Week 31

Our official countdown is 62 days!

Our not-so-little-one is just a bit closer to the birth weight and height. He/She is currently around 4 pounds and 17 inches. We can expect our miracle-gro muffin to gain about a half a pound of weight per week from now until about two weeks before birth.

We spent our memorial day weekend up in Hoffman at Brad's parents place. Brad went Bass Fishing with his dad, but didn't have very good luck due to the nasty weather. Saturday was really windy & Sunday was warm with a little wind. I believe they had better luck on the golf course on Sunday. When the guys were busy fishing, us girls went shopping in Alexandria & had lunch at "Just Like Grandma's" in Osakis. Yummy!!

Grandpa Bernie's 80th B-Day

Last weekend we had a surprise party for Brad's Grandpa Bernie in southern MN. There were lots of family & friends there to celebrate. On Sunday, Sarah (Brad's cousin) & Richard's baby, Maxwill, was baptized on the farm.

Week 30

My belly button is starting to push out. But, I've been expecting that. Brad dislikes belly buttons and doesn't like to touch it. He will actually get enough courage to rub my belly button, but it makes him quiver.

Our Official Countdown is 70 Days!

Last Thursday, I had another check up. I will be going in every two weeks until delivery. My doctor says everything is going well. The baby's heartbeat is around 140. My blood pressure was good and the baby is measuring right on track. The baby should be weighing in at around 3 pounds 12 ounces (or more!) and be nearly 16 inches long at this time.

A couple of weeks ago, I tested for gestational diabetes. I had to drink a bottle of fluid in five minutes which tasted like flat orange soda. They drew my blood about an hour after I drank the fluid and my tests came back normal.

Overall, I'm feeling pretty good. Aside from a little bit of "restless leg syndrome" at bedtime and "Charlie Horses" in the middle of the night, everything has been going well.

This is all new to us, as Brad and I haven't really ever been around newborn babies for a long period of time. It's been 13 years since my nephew was born. However, I'm sure instinct will kick in. We are also signed up for three all day classes at Abbott Northwestern Hospital next month. We're expecting to learn a TON from these classes.
I really do envy people who have sisters.

Happy Mother's Day

We had plans to make a trip out to Montevideo this weekend for Mother's Day. Our plans changed due to my mom's work schedule and the weather.
On Saturday, we went to Treasure Island Resort & Casino to see a hypnotist show. It was hilarious. There were about 15 people picked from the audience and put under hypnosis. It was amazing what the hypnotist got them to do. My favorite part was when the whole group stood up and actually thought that they were members from the rock band AC/DC and had to perform, "You Shook Me All Night Long." Very Funny!!!
On Sunday, we got caught up on some yard work. I watched the movie "Sweet Land." Some of you may know that Sweet Land was actually filmed in Montevideo. If you watch it with the director's commentary, they refer to Montevideo quite a bit and it helps to understand the movie a little better. It was neat to see familiar things throughout the movie. I knew some of the extras that were in the movie too.

Cat Naps

Our cats have found new luxury bedding with our new baby furniture. Max decided to take a cat nap inside the bassinet. We have some training to do before the baby comes.

Getting Bigger

We are almost at 28 weeks and moving into the third trimester. I'm getting bigger and bigger each week. We had a doctor appointment last week and everything is right on track and NORMAL! I like that everything is going normal now because at the beginning of the pregnancy, it was pretty rough.
I'm not experiencing any cravings or mood swings yet. I feel lots of movement lately. It's so neat to experience! Brad likes to put his ear on my tummy. He says, "Kick if you can hear me baby." And then the baby will kick...and then we laugh. He likes to sing, "On Top of Old Smokey," to the baby. His dad used to sing that to him when he was little. :)
Everything is going well & we are looking forward to our little one.

Say Goodbye to Your 20s Brad

Brad turned 30 on April 29th!! We went out for dinner at Pittsburgh Blue and then just came home and relaxed. He got new golf shoes and guitar lessons! He's getting pretty good and I like hearing the blues.

Baby Room

Brad and I have been busy getting the baby room ready. My brother Scott helped us put hardwood flooring in there and then Brad put the crib together right away. We've decided not to find out the sex of the baby, so we went with neutral colors.

Our Visit to Arizona

In March we went to Mesa, AZ to visit Bernie & Bev and also Suevonne & Dick. We had a great time. It was a quick trip, but we packed it full of great adventures. The weather was beautiful and we took a trip up to the Grand Canyon. The weather up at the canyon was a little cool, but not too bad.

First Prego Photo

The first prego photo. I'm getting a little bump! This was taken around 16 weeks.

Ultrasound Pictures

Here are some of our recent ultrasound pictures. Brad's friend Mike and his girlfriend Kate are both Ultrasound Technicians. They had us come in for fun so that we could get our first look at our precious little one.
