Weekend News

We all came down with colds Thursday afternoon. On Friday, Emmy and I went to a few neighborhood garage sales. We picked up a couple of gems...one toy for her & one for daddy. After that, Emmy & I went shopping at the outlet mall in Albertville. She needed some new shoes. Her big toe hangs out the front of her sandals, but it doesn't seem to slow her down any. She has the littlest feet. The other day I brought home a pair that I had bought on my lunch break. They were a size 6-12 month and they fell right off of her feet. All stores are different...she'll fit into anywhere from a 2-4 size shoe.
Friday evening we all went to a fair in Rogers, which is about 5 miles down the road from our house. We ate some fair food (walkin' tacos... i.e. tacos in a Dorito's bag) and some other junk. We stayed to hear a little bit of the Johnny Holm Band. It's been years since we've been to one of their shows...We forgot how much fun it was and then shared stories of the times that we had seen them play. Brad was really wanting to go inside the beer gardens, but I quickly reminded him that we had a baby in a stroller and that we would look like the most ridiculous parents on the block. Poor Brad.
On Saturday evening my step-brother Jarrod, along with his family, stopped by our house on their way home from Virginia. We ate dinner out on our deck and reminisced. They will be staying in Montevideo until after their wedding reception this weekend. It was so good to see them again and to meet baby Janie! She's so adorable and weighs almost as much as Emmy!

I Love My Grandmas!

Happy Birthday Unkie Hoda

Scott's birthday was on Monday, June 22nd and he turned 39. I picked up some king crab in the cities for him because it's his all time favorite food! We all pitched in and got him about 4 lbs. We hope you enjoyed your crab!

Father's Day with Grandpa Harley

After boating, we took my grandpa Harley out for dinner at the Legion in Willmar...his favorite hang out. My aunt & uncle, Mike & Jone, joined us as well as my niece Sam. We had a nice visit with all of them and shared lots of good laughs!! Let's do it again soon!
Emmy was so tired at the end of the day. The only nap that she got was in the car from Spicer to Willmar, which is only about 15 minutes. She was in no mood for pictures.

Emmy's First Boat Ride

My brother Scott just purchased a boat!!! The 1990 boat only had about 170 total hours on it, so it's just like brand new. I love the name that he chose for the boat..."Jon Matthew." Jon & Matt were Scott's best friends that passed away at a young age. What a nice tribute! It made me cry when I saw it.
We went back home for Father's Day and took the boat out on Green Lake in Spicer. We had a blast all day!! Emmy had fun and did so well on the boat. She had a life jacket on for about an hour and then I changed her diaper and she wouldn't put it back on.
Tyler and Brad had a blast tubing. They hit a big wave and the tube flew up in the air with them in it and bounced back down. When it bounced back in the water, Tyler and Brad bounced in the air and collided. They landed back in the tube, but then it flipped upside down and they did backwards somersaults down the lake. It was hilarious!!!
I haven't went water skiing for about 7 years. I was determined to get out there and do it once again, but the water temperature was sooooooo cold. Scott said that it was 67 degrees. I think it took me 20 minutes to finally jump in the water. I kept inching myself farther and farther and then I finally bit the bullet. Once I got in the water, then I was fine. I got right up on the skis on my first try. However, I quickly realized that I wasn't in very good shape. I ached all over the next day.
Brad went skiing and also tried to go on the wake board, but they didn't fit his feet.

Tyler & Brad tubing.

Brad having fun on the skis.
Look at those pipes!
I got him to smile...he never smiles for pictures.

First Baby Cone @ Art's

We made it to Art's just before closing time. Emmy got her first baby cone and she loved it!

Grrrrrrrrrrr

Here's a clip of Emmy's growl. She learned it from the day care kids last week when they were pretending to be little animals.

Follow Up

I brought Emmy back into the clinic again for a follow up on her ears. The doctor put her on Zithromax last time and said come back in 2-3 weeks. She still has fluid in her right ear and it's a little pink. The doctor didn't have Emmy's chart and wasn't remembering the history, etc. She put her back on Omnicef for 18 days. We are really getting frustrated with this clinic.

Garage Sales = A LOT OF WORK

I stayed up all night long on Thursday night getting ready for our garage sale. The birds were chirping at 4:30 a.m. My mom came down to help us during the sale, which was a huge help! I wasn't really tired throughout the day, but it really hit me at about 6:00 pm Friday. I was sitting on the couch talking to my mom and my head started bobbing and I was struggling to keep my eyes open. I went to lay down at 6:30 and slept until about 9:00. Brad was exhausted too and went to bed at 9:00. I got up early Saturday morning and started another day of our garage sale. I don't know if we'll ever do another garage sale. They are so much work. Maybe when Emmy is a little older and we have to get rid of her toys & old clothes, we'll think about having another sale.
We had a lot of people come to the sale on Friday, but Saturday was a little slow. We had some people who switched price tags on us and also a couple of shoplifters. We closed at 2:00 on Saturday and boxed up everything that didn't sell and brought it to the Goodwill. Someone will be getting some very nice items. I brought some of my good clothes to Clothes Mentor. They kept about six items and I got $22 for them. Brad brought his clothes to Plato's Closet and they told him that his clothes were too nice for their store so he didn't get any money for his stuff.
We will probably use the money that we received from the sale to buy new outdoor lights for our house and some other odds and ends. We were planning on going to Ft. Lauderdale in July, but I think we'll have to push that out to August now since Dar is taking a week off in August. We don't have a backup daycare so I think we might schedule our vacations around hers.
Emmy did pretty well this weekend. She has become a tiger lately and has been growling a lot. She says GRRRRRRRRRR...it's so funny!!!! I'll get it on video and post it later tonight.
I treated my mom to a manicure yesterday afternoon. My mom is so funny...she had the whole place in tears!

Rug Burns

Emmy likes it when we chase her around the house. She's getting good at teasing us too. She crawls around really fast and then shuts the door behind her. We all have red marks on our knees from chasing her around on the carpet. Ouch!!
Brad flies back from Seattle today. He has been at the Microsoft campus all week. We can't wait to see him!!

What to keep, what to sell

We finally got everything cleared out & organized in our basement crawl space. We have everything organized into just a few bins and tucked neatly back in there. It looks so bare under there. It feels a lot better having it all cleaned up though. Now I just have to place everything onto the tables and price it for our neighborhood garage sale. This is probably the first & last garage sale that we will be doing. The only good thing about this is that we came across things that we forgot that we had.
Last night Emmy & I made a Target run and picked up garage sale signs, etc. She loves to ride in the shopping cart.
In just the last few weeks Emmy has really mastered some of her toys. She really likes anything that makes noise. She knows which buttons play music and presses them constantly, but she really likes to play daddy's guitar!

Follow Up Visit

I had to bring Emmy into the doctor today for a follow up on her last ear infection. She still has fluid in her right ear. We are trying a different medication (zithromax) for five days. I really hope that she gets rid of these ear infections. We go back in two weeks for a recheck. Let's hope that this medication works.
Her weight at the clinic tonight (fully clothed) was 19 lbs 10.5 oz.

Grandma's Here

My mom came to our house on Saturday! Yeah! We met her at the outlet mall in Albertville. We did a little bit of shopping and got a bunch of good deals at The Children's Place before we picked grandma up. I bought a bunch of socks for Emmy. It always seems to be that we can never find a match to any socks in our house. I swear that the drier eats them!
My mom came to our house to help us get organized for a neighborhood garage sale in a couple of weeks. It was so nice to have her visit us. Emmy did really well with her. She cried a little bit when Grandma went to get her after her nap. I suppose she thought that we left her again.
