Happy Birthday Daddy

Happy 31st Birthday Brad!
Tonight, we'll be going out for dinner with Sarah & Richard. I didn't plan anything special because a few weeks ago, as I was shopping for his gift, he told me not to buy him anything because we were planning on going to Ft. Lauderdale again. We still haven't gotten our tickets, but we will probably make a trip down there in the next month or so. This will probably be my mother's day gift as well. Hint..Hint.

Computer On The Blink

Our home computer is sick. I think it has a virus. OOHH maybe it caught the swine flu? J/K
Brad is working on our home computer so I am unable to upload any photos. I am a little behind on the blog posts and I have lots of photos to share. Hopefully he gets it fixed soon...but it's kind of like having a mechanic who hates to work on his own vehicle.

More Pictures of Baby Janie

I just got these new pictures from Jarrod and the official height/weight.
JANIE FERN MILLER 10 lbs 2 oz 20.5 in
April 27, 2009 @ 7:05 pm.
Jarrod says: "Yeah 10 pounds 2 ounces!! That's a county record where I come from!! :) We grow'em big!!"
Wow - She'll be bigger than Emmy in just a few months.

Welcome To The World Janie Fern Miller

My Step Brother Jarrod and his wife Jenn had a baby girl named Janie Fern Miller. She weighed 10 lbs and was 20 inches in length. Jarrod will be returning from his third tour of duty from the Middle East in five days!! I was hoping that he would have been able to make it home for the delivery...as I am sure he & Jenn were too. Congrats Jarrod & Jenn!! We can't wait to meet her!

Pow Wow

We've been teaching Emmy the Indian Pow Wow sound that you make with your hand and your mouth. She now does it herself and it is so funny. I'll load a video of it later tonight.
She is also very good at giving kisses! She makes kissing noises all the time.
All of the money we spent on toys for her and she insists on playing with all of the TV remote controls. She loves the buttons.
She is still teething and very uncomfortable. She has four teeth coming in at once. On Sunday, she had a fever and was just not feeling herself. She cuddled with us and slept a bit. We gave her Tylenol and baby Orajel. She really puts up a fuss when we try to put it on her gums though. She hates it.
We really have to do something about her sleeping situation. It's been going on for a long time. She was sleeping through the night a couple of months ago and then when she had her ear troubles, she hasn't been sleeping very well since. She is usually up at least once during the night. We've tried to let her cry herself to sleep, but it doesn't work. I'm going to be reading some articles about it today. If anyone has any advice, please let us know.

I'm A Good Egg

We spent Easter weekend in Hoffman with Brad's Family. The Easter Bunny was good to Emmy. The whole family went out for Easter dinner.
Emmy had fun with all of her cousins too, but she stayed inside during the easter egg hunt.

Max's Birthday

Cousin Max turned one on April 4th. They had a party for him the week before the 4th at Jen & Wayne's house. Emmy had fun with all the toys & she played with Max and her friend Marilyn.
Colton wasn't too happy. I think he had the flu.

1st Bath in the Sink

Since our house was a mess a couple of weeks ago from replacing our carpet, I had to give Emmy a bath in the sink. We placed boxes/furniture in any empty space that we could find. We had to get it all out of the way when the installers came. So even our upstairs bathroom had things in it.

New Toy

We bought Emmy this new toy a couple of weeks ago. It has a bunch of different buttons & all kids of music. She wanted to show Grandma Debbie how fun it was.
As you can see in the video, she just loves it and giggles all the time with daddy.

A Day with Grandma Linda

A few weeks ago Emmy & I drove to Hutchinson to meet my mom for the day. We met for breakfast and then spent the whole day browsing at all the shops in town. We had a really nice time and I'm sure we'll do it again soon.

Pat-A-Cake

I've been teaching Emmy how to do Pat-A-Cake. On Sunday she started clapping by herself. She gets so excited when she learns something new. Mommy & Daddy get excited too! I'll post a video & pictures soon.

More Choppers!!

Emmy has a couple of more teeth that have popped through. She got her two bottom middle teeth a while ago and now she has one next to the bottom ones and also one on the top right. I thought that she would have gotten her two top middle ones before these side teeth. When we were at the clinic on Monday, the doctor said that her top middle gums are swollen and the teeth are ready to pop through any day.
Wow...I hate getting a tooth ache. I can't imagine having a bunch of your teeth come through at the same time! The Tylenol that we give her seems to help relieve some pain.
She's so darn cute, but she is going to look like a snaggle tooth for a little while.

More Ear Problems

I took Emmy into the doctor again on Monday. She has been sticking her finger in her ears a lot and not sleeping well at night. The first ear infection that she had was not fully gone. First they gave her the Amoxicilin. It didn't clear up so they gave her something stronger. A week later she got the flu and they told us her ear infection had cleared up and we could take her off of her medication. I was reluctant to do this because I know that you are always supposed to finish your medication even if you are feeling better. We had only been giving Emmy this new medication for a few days when the doctor told us to take her off it. Now almost two weeks later, she still has this ear infection. They put her back on Omnicef once a day for ten days. I hope she feels better soon. Last night she finally slept through the night. That was nice!

Feeling Better

Emmy's feeling much better now. She had some nasty diapers which lasted for a few days. Brad ended up getting the flu from her. Somehow I didn't get it. Our daycare lady caught it, as well as two other children and their parents. I feel so horrible that we passed it on to them!! We kept her out of daycare last week, but she must have already had the bug on Monday.
We got new carpet in our house last week. We moved all of our furniture to the main level in our house and quickly ran out of room to even walk through the kitchen. We didn't want Emmy in that environment so we got a hotel room for two days. I haven't had access to our home computer because it was packed away in Emmy's room during all of the chaos. Brad hooked it back up last night and we have slowly been organizing the home and also doing some spring cleaning.
Emmy is inching up the stairs in our house. I was sitting on the steps the other day and she climbed right up to me. I think it's time to get the baby gate up again. We took it down so that the carpet installers could easily move up and down the stairs.
She has recently learned how to wave. It's really cute and resembles a little beauty queen wave. She waves at everyone all day long.
Emmy has started this little game of screeching. I was at Target last night with her and she started doing it. I told her "No" but she kept doing it and then she would giggle each time. How can I teach my child the word "NO" when I can't even keep a straight face. :)

Stomach Bug

March came in like a lion for Emmy...let's hope April comes in like a lamb! March was not a good month for her. She fought the ear infection for a while. Her sleeping has gotten much better, but yesterday morning she woke up at 6:30 a.m. throwing up. We had our first experience with Emmy getting the flu. I must say, it was awful! Our hearts just ache watching her go through that. She wasn't quite sure what was going on. We took her in to the pediatrician at 8:00 just to be sure it was the flu and not something else. She also has a rash on her bottom. I feel so bad for her. The doctor said she has the flu, but that her ear infection has cleared up. Her doctor said that we could take her off of the Omnicef medication since her infection is gone.
Yesterday, Emmy started with vomiting and then by 10:00 a.m. it changed to the worst diapers I have ever seen. I was gagging right along with her. I gave her some Pedialyte yesterday and today. We have LOTS of laundry to tackle due to her major blowouts!!! Wow...the joys of parenthood. We kept her out of daycare yesterday and today. Hopefully, it will pass soon! I hope we don't get it.
Her mood in the afternoon was pretty good. By late afternoon she was eating solids and keeping them down pretty good. She was playing with her toys, smiling & laughing, but continued to have nasty diapers. We are making sure that she's getting plenty of fluids.
