Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!
We had Emmy's pictures taken in her halloween costume a couple of weeks ago. She really didn't like having the costume on because she doesn't really like hats or anything over her head. I'm sure that she'll get used to hats very soon when our cold weather starts here in MN.
We had Sarah's husband Richard take Emmy's photos and they turned out so cute! We borrowed the wheelbarrow from our next door neighbors and Richard and Sarah provided the other props.
When we started taking the photos, Emmy wasn't really cooperating. She was tired, so we decided to go get something to eat and then try again after dinner. We got some good shots after dinner when she was all rested.

My brother Scott has called me "Bean" ever since I was really little. I'm not really sure how it all started, but it stuck and he still calls me Bean. Now he calls Emmy, "Baby Bean." So, when I saw this costume, I had to get it. Emmy is such a little pea pod anyway...And since uncle Scott calls her Baby Bean I thought it was a good fit!!

Another Emmy Krusemark??

My sister-in-law came across a website about Ellis Island and found a passenger named Emmy Krusemark who arrived on Ellis Island in 1923.

Emmy Krusemark arrived on October 22, 1923 at the age of 21. She was single at the time of her arrival. She came from Schwerin, Germany on the Sierra Ventana ship which departed from Bremen.
The Sierra Ventana was built in 1923 and had 1,113 passengers. (401 first class, 712 third class). It was sold to the Italian Government in 1935 and renamed Sardegna. It was torpedoed and sunk by a Greek submarine off Albania on November 29, 1940.

Fun In The Leaves

Last week Brad was doing yard work so we put Emmy in her Bumbo seat and covered her with the leaves that were all over our yard. She didn't mind it at all.

Emmy has another cold. About a month ago, when she got her shots, she got a slight cold. It lingered around for about two weeks. That cold went away and now she has another one. Two nights ago she was running a 101 temp. I gave her some infant Tylenol and her temp came down by morning. Her pediatrician said that infants can get up to 8-10 colds per year. I feel so bad for her. This week she's been waking up in the middle of the night a lot. Her nose is so stuffy. I've been giving her saline drops in her nose and suctioning the crud out. She fusses a little bit, but not much.

She is starting to giggle more. Brad gets her to giggle more than I do. Hopefully we can catch her giggling one of these days on camera for all of you to hear. She gets excited and has a high pitched laugh.

She still does not like a pacifier. She really likes to suck on her fists. It doesn't matter if she has just eaten, she still sucks on her fists or fingers. :)

She loves it when people talk to her. She coos back and smiles at anyone. A lot of people are saying she looks more like Brad now.

Unkie Hoda

As far back as I can remember, I've always had a cat or some type of a pet. As I got older, every time that my brother Scott would come to visit me, I would always hand over one of my cats to him and say, "Unkie Hoda." Meaning...Uncle Scott, hold my baby. So, now that I have a real child of my own it gets said a lot more to him. I even made him a shirt that says Unkie Hoda and he wore it to the hospital when Emmy was born! How Cute!!

Here's a cute picture from last weekend. We went to Luther Haven (nursing home) in Montevideo and visited some of the residents. I have the cutest video of one of the residents with Emmy. Hopefully I can get it uploaded to this site so that you can see it.

Shake It

We went back to Montevideo for a wedding this weekend. Our friends daughter got married on Saturday and the reception was held at the old Hollywood Theater downtown Montevideo. The Hollywood Theater has been renovated and now there are a lot of events that take place there. This is the first time that I had been inside since we were really young. My mom used to bring us down there on Saturday's for the free matinee. ET is the only movie that I remember seeing there. I was about 6 years old when that movie came to town. You can still smell the popcorn when you walk through the front door. Sorry, I didn't get any inside pictures because it was really dark in there and none of the pictures turned out good enough to post on here.
So, anyway...about the reception. My brother Scott is the pickiest eater in the whole world. The food that was catered for the reception was really good. We had stuffed chicken breast with glazed carrots & baby red potatoes. My brother wouldn't even try it because the chicken had rice in it. He only eats corn & mashed potatoes for a vegetable so both the carrots and the baby red's were out too. So, he got on his phone and ordered a pizza from Jake's pizza across the street.

Emmy didn't come with us to the reception, she stayed at home with grandma Linda.
I took some cute pictures of the night and even got Scott on video shakin' it. If you know Scott, he doesn't ever cut a rug in front of anyone but he didn't know that I was recording him. Enjoy the video!

Cuttest Lil Pumpkin

Grandma Linda bought Emmy the cutest little pumpkin outfit. I put it on her last Thursday before she outgrows it. We took some pictures in our back yard.

Buca Di Beppo = YUM!!

We had a nice evening with Dick, Suevonne & Gretchen (Brad's cousins) at Buca last week. The food was soooooo good! I want to go back again soon! YUM!! :) Dick & Suevonne are on their way to their winter home in sunny Arizona today. I'm envious!!

Happy Girl

Emmy is so happy. She smiles all the time...especially in the morning. She has started to giggle a little bit, but only in her sleep. I wonder what she's dreaming about?
She's sleeping through the night...which helps Brad and I function normally during the day. Brad still says he hasn't caught up on his sleep!
Daycare is going well. I think she likes the noise that the other kids make. :)

This is her new fall coat. I bought it a few weeks ago hoping that she would grow into it. She's still too little for it. We just roll the sleeves a few times.

Last week we went out for all-you-can-eat king crab dinner. Yum!! It's hard to eat crab legs with a baby in your lap though. Brad and I took turns eating. :)
