We had a blast on the boat this summer. Every weekend during the month of July was spent out on the lake. We had a blast with family and friends on Games Lake near New London, Fish Lake by our house, Lake Sylvia near Annandale, Elk Lake near Hoffman and even Lake Minnetonka.
We found a great bay on Lake Minnetonka (Maxwell's Bay) that is family friendly...unlike Big Island where we used to party back in our partying days. Big Island has changed a lot since my day. I've definitely outgrown my playground out there and plus...our boat is not big enough for that area. Most boats that anchor out there are around $100,000 or more...they are like yachts.
Our cat Max even got to spend a day on the boat. Yep, we're one of those people who brings a cat on a boat. Good Lord! So... he's diabetic and has to get shots twice a day. We spent the weekend in Montevideo and went to the lake on the way back to the cities. We couldn't leave him in the car. He actually did really well on the boat and took a cat nap under the front seat.
We had our first breakdown with the boat this summer. Good thing my brothers were with us otherwise I don't know what we would have done. Our boat wouldn't start when it was time to head back into shore. My brother ended up towing us back to shore with his boat.
Games Lake also received a treasure this summer as I lost my diamond earring in the lake. I got the diamond earring & pendant set from my dad on my wedding day. I wear them so much that I forgot to take them off that day. Good thing I had them insured. Lesson learned...I don't wear jewelry on the lake anymore.
My favorite time this summer was the 4th of July. We spent the day on Games Lake with my family and my longtime childhood friend Jenny and her family. Emmy & Erin loved playing with Jenny's boy Jacob! They quickly became good friends!
My dad brought suntan lotion that must have been from 1982. It still had a typed orange price tag sticker on it from the old Pamida store in town. He said that he has milk at home that is thicker than what was in that bottle! Jenny & I share lots of belly laughs going for a ride on the tube! Lots of great memories were made that day!
Brad bought a new prop at the end of August. He brought the boat up to Cross Lake for his friend Mike's bachelor party. The new prop was in the water for only 20 minutes when Brad hit a major rock and blew the prop to pieces. That was the last time the boat was in the water this year. Until next year!
smile, it's friday :)
