Our plans were to have Erin's first birthday at our home on Sunday, February 20th, which was just a couple of days after we returned from our Vegas trip. Well, the weather was not cooperating. There was a huge snow storm coming our way, so we decided to cancel her party. We called everyone right away that morning, but Brad's brother and his family were already on their way to our house and had got a hotel room nearby. We decided that all of the out-of-towners (my family) would stay put and we would have a small party at a later date. We invited some friends and family to the Kelly Inn for an impromptu pool party. It ended up being just the right thing.
The kids had fun in the pool area and then we enjoyed some pizza from Green Mill. Christy brought a yummy chocolate cake which Erin dove right into.
Erin received a baby doll, a couple of adorable outfits, a book, and a bunch of bath toys. She's been enjoying all of them.
We celebrated Erin's real birthday with her at our home on the 22nd of February. I ordered a bunch of balloons the night before...Emmy had a hay day over those!! She got really excited when she came down the stairs and saw them hanging off the chair.
My mom stayed at our house over the weekend. She wanted to stay on until Erin's birthday. She hung around until about 12:30 or so and then drove home. My mom had helped us organize the girls' rooms all weekend. It really helped having her here because I just can't tackle those rooms by myself. I'm either watching/playing with the girls downstairs or they are napping. It just seems like there's no time to organize their rooms. But, with my mom's help, we got both rooms done. Their closets are totally organized and all of the clothes that Erin has outgrown have gone into storage in the basement. BooHoo.
My mom also helped out by doing a ton of laundry. We have a basket full of mismatched socks, so my mom started going through all of them and found a bunch of pairs after all of the laundry was done. We still had a bunch that we couldn't find the match to. I swear the dryer eats them.
When we were organizing Erin's room, my mom noticed that Erin's dresser doesn't have a small drawer for socks, etc. I have a basket inside her drawer right now for socks, but it's overflowing. So my mom's gift to Erin was a closet/drawer organizer which will be perfect for all of her socks, etc.
That evening we went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. We all love wings and Emmy loves playing the games! We came home from dinner and then opened birthday gifts from mommy, daddy & Emmy. Emmy likes to help rip open the wrapping paper. We gave Erin an outfit, two pairs of shoes & an activity cube. She had a full day of fun! Happy 1st Birthday My Love!
