We just came from Emmy's last appointment at the Burn Unit. They removed her bandages and cleaned up everything. The surgeon said that everything looks great. It's all healed except for one tiny area below her wrist. The nurse put one little band aid below Emmy's wrist and then told us to keep putting lotion on her arm several times a day. We have to watch out for sun exposure and must keep lots of sunscreen on her arm when we are outside.
The surgeon mentioned that it may take up to two years for the scars to dissipate.
We have an appointment with a Plastic Surgeon in two weeks. He will check her arm then and let us know if she will need a compression bandage to help with any scaring.
