We received better news today regarding Emmy's burn. Her wound is looking better and is turning pink which is a good sign that the tissue is not dead. We are still not completely out of the woods yet. Each day her burn looks different. There were a couple of spots/blisters that turned up today that were not there yesterday.
The nurse cut off Emmy's bandages today, removed the blisters and cleaned her wounds. The daily routine is to soak some gauze in Silvadene which is then applied to the skin to prevent and treat bacterial infections that may occur in burns. After that, her arm is wrapped in more gauze and then wrapped again with some brown sticky gauze so that Emmy doesn't pull it off.
We have seen a lot of children with burns at the burn unit. It just breaks my heart to see them hurting. The nurse that we had today mentioned that the number one accident for children is burns.
We have another appointment tomorrow afternoon. We are praying for more good news.
